Atletico Madrid 2-1 Osasuna: Luis Suarez puts Atleti on verge of La Liga glory

Atletico Madrid were in serious trouble with just 10 minutes remaining but were able to turn it around and claim the win

Atletico Madrid came from a goal down to defeat Osasuna 2-1 and move to within touching distance of the La Liga title.

Diego Simeone's side has looked tired and stale and ultimately went behind thanks to an Ante Budimir header.

But they raised their game and goals from Renan Lodi and a crucial winner from Luis Suarez just two minutes from time meant Atleti are just one more win away from winning the title for the first time since 2014.

Simeone's side dominated the match as expected, totally outscoring the opposition in terms of shots, shots on target and possession.

But they struggled to create genuine openings despite that and there was plenty of tension in the air as the match reached half-time with the match all-square.

And in the second half, Atleti thought they had gone ahead. Kieran Trippier's ball into the area allowed Stefan Savic to knock into the net, but there had been a flick on the way through and the goal was disallowed for offside.

And then, the sucker punch. A superb cross to the back post found Ante Budimir unmarked and he nodded over the line despite Jan Oblak's best efforts to keep it out.

Real Madrid moved into the box seat at that point and Atleti looked ragged as a result, struggling to get on the ball and exert their influence.

But then a lifeline came in the form of a sublime Joao Felix through pass. The Portuguese came off the bench to scoop a ball to Renan Lodi and the full-back retained his composure to slot high into the roof of the net and draw the scores level.

And then salvation arrived. Clever play from Yannick Carrasco saw him cut the ball back into an area, and there was Suarez, 12 yards out, to sweep his finish into the corner of the net and cue manic celebrations.

With just one game remaining it's simple; if Atleti win against Valladolid, they will be champions. But if they stumble and Real Madrid defeat Villarreal, the title could yet go to their rivals.

Atletico Madrid has won the match.
