It will be an emotional affair at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard returns to the club as an opposition manager for the first time,

Gerrard served as Liverpool captain during a 17-year spell with the Reds and is recognised as a legendary figure at the club.

Now, though, he is a manager with a burgeoning reputation and for the first time in his career will be hoping Liverpool lose at Anfield as he takes his Aston Villa side into the away dressing room.

Liverpool had Champions League duties midweek and it was pretty much a perfect Matchday Six for Jurgen Klopp as he made a raft of changes to his starting XI against Milan yet still witnessed his team win at San Siro.

A variety of stars are set to return for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa, with youngsters like Neco Williams and Tyler Morton likely to drop out.

Alisson will start in goal behind a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago will make up the midfield three.

Divock Origi scored again in his chance in the side but will probably drop out, with Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in attack.

Williams, Ibrahima Konate, Nat Phillips, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Morton, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Takumi Minamino and Origi will all drop out of the starting XI.
