About China PR

Following the Chinese Civil War, the China football association was reformed in the name of the People’s Republic of China. The nation was recognised by Fifa until 1958 when they withdrew, only to join again in 1979, having remained affiliated with the governing body since. China have only qualified once for a World Cup tournament in 2002, when they failed to make it out of the group stage or even score a goal. With the financial injection into the Chinese Super League, the popularity of the sport is expected to increase. They have enjoyed more success on their own continent and have won the EAFF East Asian Cup twice in 2005 and 2010 and have also finished as runners-up in the Asian Cup in 1984 and 2004. Li Weifeng has the most caps for China, while Hao Haidong has netted the most goals for his nation.
