The Superleague in Greece is a platform for some of the most passionate fans in the world, and whenever the fans from Athens congregate either at the Olympic Stadium or Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium for AEK versus Panathinaikos, they create an incredible atmosphere. The Athenian Derby is fiercely fought due to the proximity of the clubs in the same city, but as both teams are multiple championship winners. The most partisan fans of Panathinaikos are part of the ‘Gate 13’ ultras organisation – the oldest fan organisation in Greece. Panathinaikos are the more successful team of the two and have won more Greek championships. At certain points throughout the years, the teams have shared the Olympic Stadium, and have had numerous players feature in the yellow of AEK and the green of Panathinaikos. Four managers have taken charge of both sides – Ferenc Puskas, Helmut Senekowitsch, Jacek Gmoch, and Fernando Santos.
