Sporting Kansas City are an American soccer club who feature in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. They have won the MLS Cup on two occasions, as well as one Supporters’ Shield and four US Open Cups. Sporting Kansas City, formerly known as the Kansas City Wizards, have established rivalries with Real Salt Lake and Houston Dynamo. Their most famous and celebrated players are Preki, Matt Besler, Dom Dwyer, Chris Klein, Tony Meola, Davy Arnaud, Jimmy Nielsen, Peter Vermes, Josh Wolff, and Graham Zusi. Vermes is the first player in MLS history to win the MLS Cup both as a head coach and as a player, which he did with Sporting KC. Their home since 2011 has been the Children’s Mercy Park, which has a capacity of over 18,000 spectators.
