How Milan and Atalanta could line-up in crunch Serie A game

The final day of the season sees Stefano Pioli's Milan side travelling to Bergamo needing a win against Atalanta to cement Champions League football

The final day of the season sees Stefano Pioli's Milan side travelling to Bergamo needing a win against Atalanta to cement Champions League football.

The Rossoneri blew the chance to guarantee qualification after being held to a 0-0 draw against Cagliari at San Siro, and now know only a win will see them through.

Atalanta, meanwhile, have already qualified for the Champions League next season, but are smarting from their Coppa Italia final defeat to Juventus in midweek.

Milan are still without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it's believed that the striker will be on the bench as a cheerleader, as he's in no condition to play any minutes.

Rafael Leao could get the nod to play at the point of Milan's attack, with Ante Rebic a doubt following a knock he sustained.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will be protected by a back line of Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez.

Pioli has also already picked his midfield for the crunch clash, with Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer both fit and ready to play.

In the attacking positions, Milan will likely go with Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Hakan Calhanoglu, who could be playing his last game for the club, as he's yet to sign a contract extension.

With Rebic a doubt and Ibrahimovic out, Leao, who has struggled in a more central position this season, is likely to start up front.

Atalanta, meanwhile, are under no pressure going into the game, having already secured a top four finish.

La Dea were bested by Juventus in the final of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, their second final defeat in three years, and will want to make amends against Milan.

Gian Piero Gasperini will start his strongest side, with left wing-back Robin Gosens the only real doubt.

Pierluigi Gollini will start in goal. In front of him will likely be Rafael Toloi, Cristian Romero and Berat Djimsiti.

In midfield, Marten De Roon and Remo Freuler will occupy the central positions in midfield. Hans Hateboer will play on the right, with Gosens on the left if he passes a late fitness test.

Ruslan Malinovskyi will play in the No.10 role, just behind strikers Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata.
