Chalobah back in - How Chelsea could line up against Aston Villa

Some issues in the backline may mean Thomas Tuchel handing another start to the impressive Trevoh Chalobah

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will be forced to make some alterations to his defensive line for this weekend's Premier League match against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

With Reece James being sent off against Liverpool, a replacement will be needed at right wing-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta the most likely candidate to replace the England international, with Callum Hudson-Odoi also an option.

With Azpilcueta out of the backline, Trevoh Chalobah will come back in for his first start since the opening day of the season in which he scored versus Crystal Palace.

Thiago Silva is unavailable as he has received a short ban from FIFA for leaving Chelsea for international duty with Brazil without authorisation from the club.

Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger will therefore continue in the back three.

N'Golo Kante is currently dealing with an ankle issue and although it is not believed to be serious, he probably won't be risked which will mean a midfield pairing of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, though new signing Saul Niguez is in contention too.

At left wing-back, Marcos Alonso appears to be the preferred option ahead of Ben Chilwell for the moment.

Romelu Lukaku had a slight thigh issue on international duty with Belgium but it probably won't be a big enough problem to keep him from leading the line in this one.

Tuchel has a plethora of options for the two spots in behind Lukaku, but expect Mason Mount and Kai Havertz to again be given the nod.

Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech will be available in reserve.
