Manchester United have been criticised by Donny van de Beek's agent for the Dutchman's lack of competitive minutes since joining the club.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has been desperate to add quality to his squad this summer, but despite having numerous transfer targets the only major signing has been Van de Beek, who joined for €40m from Ajax.

However, the Dutchman has not started either of Man Utd's opening two Premier League matches, and was only given a couple of minutes off the bench in their most recent fixture versus Brighton.

He did play a part in them winning, with him involved in the build-up for the penalty which was dispatched by Bruno Fernandes.

Sjaak Swart says he is not happy with the lack of minutes for his client.

“A substitute, I don’t like it at all," he told VoetbalPrimeur.

“I couldn’t do it myself, substituting in with four minutes left to play. Then you’d better let me sit down.

“I have to say he did three more good things. The penalty, where the winning goal came from, came from him.

“But normally they should have lost 1-7. Five times post and bar, Brighton … They have a nice team, but that shouldn’t happen to Manchester United.”

United have suffered a poor start to their Premier League campaign as prior to the Brighton win, which they should have lost comfortably due to Brighton's chances and attempts off the woodwork, they were defeated 3-1 at home by Crystal Palace.

They remain keen on signing Jadon Sancho from Dortmund, but had their latest bid rejected after again not meaning the German side's valuation.
