Luis Suarez could be set to leave Barcelona this summer after being told by new head coach Ronald Koeman that he is not wanted in the Blaugrana squad for the 2020/21 season.
Barcelona are coming off a dismal campaign in which they failed to win a significant piece of silverware for the first time in 12 years.
Things were already looking grim for Barca after surrendering La Liga to Real Madrid, but the situation came to a head in the Champions League after they were humiliated 8-2 by Bayern in the quarter-final to be eliminated in Lisbon.
Quique Setien was quickly sacked and Koeman brought in, with the Dutchman tasked with reinvigorating an ageing squad at the Camp Nou.
Only a select few players such as Lionel Messi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are not on the transfer list, although the Argentine is reportedly close to asking to leave after becoming disillusioned with results on the pitch and how the club operates off it.
Club stalwarts like Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets are all under threat, though at this point their future remains a mystery.
Things appear to be a bit clearer for Suarez, though, as according to RAC1 the former Liverpool striker's contract could be terminated with a year left to run if a compensation deal can be agreed upon.
Suarez wants to stay at Barcelona despite rumours of a return to Ajax or even a potential move to David Beckham's Inter Miami.
He has been a huge success since making the move from Anfield, scoring 198 goals in six years to become their third-highest goalscorer of all time behind Cesar in second and Messi in first.
Koeman is keen to free up wages for new recruits, with Suarez's £290k a week salary currently on the books for another year unless he leaves.
