Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has responded to Paul Pogba saying it is a "dream" of his to play for Real Madrid, insisting the Frenchman is a Manchester United player.

While on international duty with France, Pogba was asked about a move to Real Madrid, and he responded in a way that would risk the ire of the Man Utd fans.

"We have all heard that things have been said. What to say? Yes, all footballers would love to play for Real Madrid. It might be a dream," Pogba said.

"It is a dream for me, why not one day? But I play for Manchester United and I love my club."

Now Solskjaer has been asked to comment not only on the speculation surrounding a transfer to Madrid, but the fact that his player openly touted himself for a move away from Old Trafford in the future.

“Paul's our player, he's going to be here for another two years,” the Norwegian said when previewing United's weekend match against Newcastle.

“I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul and I'm sure in the next couple of years we'll get the best out of him.”

Pogba will likely be given a starting berth this weekend against the Magpies, as Man Utd come off one of their most embarrassing results in recent history.

Before the international break they were destroyed 6-1 at home by Jose Mourinho's Tottenham despite taking the lead through a Bruno Fernandes penalty.

There were allegedly verbal clashes in the dressing room during the break in that match, with Bruno Fernandes criticising the tactics of Solskjaer.

However, the Portuguese fiercely denied those claims a few days ago.
