La Liga Team of the week: Suarez reminds Barcelona what they are missing

The Argentine maestro was magnificent as the Blaugrana comfortably swept Real Valladolid aside this midweek

Barcelona made have only defeated Huesca 1-0 at the weekend, but it was among their most controlled and confident performances in what has been a difficult season.

Frenkie De Jong (8.6) produced arguably his best performance in a Barca shirt, scoring the only goal in the first half courtesy of a Lionel Messi assist. Beyond that he completed 70 passes and made nine ball recoveries.

Joining him is Ousmane Dembele (8.5), who just needs to bring fitness and a cutting edge to the good things he is doing.

Only Messi himself completed more dribbles this weekend than Dembele's four, and though his shooting was wayward he is getting back to fitness. Jordi Alba (7.8) and Marc Andre Ter-Stegen (8.0) are also included, the keeper making an excellent close-range block to retain Barca's lead.

Atletico Madrid left it late but secured a crucial victory away at Alaves. Despite conceding what seemed to be a late equaliser, Luis Suarez's (8.0) injury time strike was enough to clinch the three points, and him and midfielder Koke (8.5) were the unsung heroes.

Real Madrid kept the pressure on by defeating a Celta Vigo team that had been on a decent run. All of Los Blancos' joy came on the right, with Lucas Vazquez (8.2) and Marco Asensio (8.0) the key man, the latter providing a goal and an assist.

Bryan Gil's (8.1) talent is well-known in La Liga circles and he scored two excellent goals in Eibar's excellent win over Granada. He is joined by defensive team-mate Paulo Oliveira (7.8). Jawad El Yamiq (7.9) of Valladolid completes this week's team.
