The current Barca president is almost universally disliked by fans and club members, who recently voted to give him a vote of no confidence.
His biggest critic has been Lionel Messi, who didn't hold back in his comments regarding Bartomeu when he announced he would actually be remaining at the club despite previously indicating a desire to leave.
Messi accused the president of breaking personal promises to him as well as criticising the club's direction under his tenure.
While negative comments are being lobbed at Bartomeu from every angle, he does have one fan in the form of Cerezo, who thinks he will go down as one of the great Barca presidents.
“Bartomeu is a great president and, in the future, he will be considered one of the great presidents of the club," the Atletico president told Catalunya Radio.
"He is a very great person, I say that as a friend, and history will give him reason for the things he has done at Barca."
Luis Suarez recently completed a transfer from Barcelona to Atletico, and Cerezo has revealed that Los Colchoneros attempted to sign the Uruguayan when he was still at Liverpool.
"At Atletico, we are always happy, we are trying to make a great team, a great player is coming, one of the great scorers in Europe and we are delighted to have him with us," he said.
"We already tried to sign him for many years when he was at Liverpool but with our economic conditions we could not do it and now it has been done.
"Suarez has many admirers, among them our coach (Diego Simeone), but it couldn't be possible then and due to the circumstances of life he has arrived now."
Suarez had been deemed surplus to requirements at Barca by new head coach Ronald Koeman and the board.
His treatment over the past month is another criticism aimed at Bartomeu by Messi.
