How England could line up against San Marino

England need just one point to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and look to end their qualification campaign unbeaten

England manager Gareth Southgate will ring the changes for the match against San Marino, knowing a point is all that is needed to secure World Cup Qualification.

England are unbeaten in Group I so far and sit top of the standings with 23 points taken from their opening nine fixtures.

They won 5-0 against Albania at Wembley on Friday and now they hope to secure their place in Qatar 2022 with a trip to the Stadio Olimpico in San Marino.

Harry Kane, fresh from his hat-trick against Albania, is now just nine goals behind Wayne Rooney's all-time England goalscoring record and is likely to start with the view of closing that gap against Europe's whipping boys.

Southgate has confirmed Conner Coady will start in Rimini and is likely to partner Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings as the manager reverts to a back four.

And Aaron Ramsdale could be rewarded for his fine Arsenal form with a first cap, replacing Jordan Pickford.

Ramsdale's Gunners team-mate Emile Smith Rowe, who has earned his first place in a senior England squad, will be hoping to get his first cap after scoring in his last three Arsenal games.

Ben Chilwell will play left-back in the back four with Luke Shaw injured and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold favoured to play on the right.

Chelsea's Mason Mount remains injured and Jordan Henderson has been sent home. Jack Grealish has also not travelled. That means there might be a place for Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher in the search for his first taste of senior international football.

England - Football tactics and formations

Raheem Sterling is reportedly out due to personal reasons so Bukayo Saka should come in for his 14th cap.

Roma's Tammy Abraham has been in mixed form in Serie A with Roma but is knocking on the door to play up top with Harry Kane and earn his tenth cap.
