Manchester City go into Christmas as Premier League leaders once again, three points clear of Liverpool in second.

They've been imperious once again, although slight off-the-field concerns have crept in.

Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have both been dropped for disciplinary reasons, while Ferran Torres appears to be on his way to Barcelona.

In the case of Foden and Grealish, it's put halts in otherwise impressive 2021/22 seasons. Grealish may not have the goals and assists to show for it, but he's settled into life at the club.

Foden, on the other hand, has taken another leap forward, but they both could be side-lined again on Boxing Day.

Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, and Raheem Sterling were the selected front three against Newcastle in their absence, and helped City to a comfortable 4-0 win, with Mahrez and Sterling both appearing on the scoresheet.

Unlike Leicester, Man City didn't have a midweek cup fixture, after being knocked out by West Ham, so will be well rested ahead of hosting Brendan Rodgers' side.

Even so, Guardiola may look to rotate with so many fixtures to come.

Ederson will remain in goal, with a back four of Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, and Oleksandr Zinchencko in front of him.

Bernardo Silva has been a regular this season, but Guardiola may opt to give him a break, and instead use a midfield three of Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, and Kevin de Bruyne.

As for the forward line, Cole Palmer may have to wait until midweek for a start as the Spanish manager will most likely keep the same front three as against Newcastle.
