Paris Saint-Germain play Ligue 1 champions Lille at Parc des Princes on Friday, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the league to 10 points.

Lille’s defence of their title has proven to be pitiful, with the club buckling under financial problems to fall well off the pace early this season.

PSG, though, do not have their problems to seek before this encounter, with numerous selection problems dogging head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s thinking.

Kylian Mbappe is out after suffering from illness over the past couple of days, while Lionel Messi is a doubt because of muscular problems. With Mauro Icardi having had a tumultuous couple of weeks on a personal basis, there is therefore some doubt over how the attack will be put together.

Neymar, who has just a single goal to his credit this season, will be expected to step up after a disappointing start to the season while Angel Di Maria is another certain starter.

There are problems in midfield, too. Marco Verratti is out for four to six weeks due to injury while Leandro Paredes is also missing. Gini Wijnaldum will have an opportunity to impose himself after a slow start to the season in Paris. Danilo Pereira could feature once more.

In defence, meanwhile, Achraf Hakimi is banned after being sent off during last weekend’s scoreless draw against Marseille. Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba will vie to play on the right of the defence while Nuno Mendes is expected to get the nod on the left. Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe should continue in the centre as there is still no sign of Sergio Ramos being able to debut.

Rotation in goal will continue, with Gianluigi Donnarumma taking the spot of Keylor Navas, who has started the past couple of matches for the Parisians.
