About Jupiler Pro League

Founded in 1895, the Belgian First Division A, or Jupiler Pro League, is the top division of Belgian football. It contains 16 teams. The season runs from July to May, and teams play each other both home and away to fulfil a total of 30 games, with the top six teams entering a play-off tournament to determine the champion. The Jupiler Pro League has promotion and relegation linked to the Belgian First Division B, the second tier. One team is relegated from the Jupiler Pro League, and one team is promoted from First Division B, each season.
