About Football League Trophy

Founded in 2013, the Scottish Premiership, formerly the Scottish Premier League, is the top division of Scottish football. It contains 12 teams. The season runs from August to May and teams play each other three times for a total of 33 games before the league is split in two – the championship round and the relegation round where teams play the others in their respective group one more time. One team is relegated from the Scottish Premiership and one team is promoted from the Scottish Championship, each season, with another position decided via a relegation/promotion play-off. Celtic have won the most titles (6).
