Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for La Roja but a brilliant second-half header from Robert Lewandowski levelled the game.
Gerard Moreno saw a penalty hit the post, with Morata unable to steer the rebound into the net.

Robert Lewandowski had come under scrutiny before this encounter for his poor scoring record at major tournaments with Poland. Rarely given a sight of goal in Poland's opening match against Slovakia, he took his chance against Spain brilliantly, heading into the corner.
