Germany got their Euro 2020 campaign back on track on Saturday with a convincing 4-2 victory over Portugal.
Jogi Low’s side had a point to prove after a 1-0 defeat to France earlier in the week and it seemed as though their campaign may have been over before it got started when Cristiano Ronaldo bundled the ball into the back of the net after 15 minutes.
However, Germany recouped and put on a show for fans and neutrals alike by scoring four goals and picking up an important three points in the process.

Portugal
Although his side were forced to accept defeat in the game after a dreadful all-round performance, Ronaldo can certainly still walk away from this game with his head held high.
The Juventus striker was at his very best for Portugal’s first goal, when he cleared a Germany corner only to rush up the pitch and provide a run for Diogo Jota to finish off the counter attack. It was Ronaldo’s 107th goal for his country.
The forward then turned creator midway through the second half when he latched on to a free-kick to fire the ball back across goal and set up Jota to score Portugal’s second. It may not have been a good game for his nation, but Ronaldo still looked as sharp as ever.

Germany
Germany’s inspiration on Saturday came from the most unlikely of places, as left wing-back Robin Gosens simply harassed the Portugal back line for the duration of the match and undoubtedly played a huge part in his team coming from behind to win the game.
The Atalanta full-back struck first in the 35th minute when he found space down the left flank and fired the goal across the box, only to watch it hit off Ruben Dias and into the back of the net.
The wing-back was even better in the second half, when he attempted an almost identical drilled cross in the 51st minute and this time found a teammate in the form of Kai Havertz, who bundled home a third for Germany.
Nine minutes later Gosens turned goal scorer when he latched on to a wonderful cross from Joshua Kimmich to head home a fourth for Germany at the back post.
