Denmark continued their remarkable run in Euro 2020 with a convincing 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Baku.
The result now means that Kasper Hjulmand side are through to the semi-finals of the competition, where they will face either England or the Ukraine.

While Denmark haven’t been the most technically gifted or gung-ho side at this summer’s competition, they have shown more grit and determination than any of their foes to date and that has been perfectly characterised by midfielder Thomas Delaney.
Off the back of a subdued season with Borussia Dortmund, the towering midfielder once again struck when it mattered most when he leaped on to the end of a corner in the the fifth minute of the game to tuck the ball inside the bottom left corner of the net.
When he wasn’t scoring goals up one end of the pitch, Delaney was winning tackles and headers in his own half and ensuring that his side marched to the semi-finals.

Tasked with playing a slightly unorthodox role as Denmark’s left wing-back, Atalanta midfielder Joakim Maehle proved to be the decisive difference between the two teams when he rushed down the left flank a few minutes before half time and fired in a delightful cross with the outside of his right foot.
Maehle’s cross caught the Czech defence off guard but found a grateful Kasper Dolberg rushing in at the back post, who then rifled the ball into the roof of the net and gave the Danes a second and all-important goal.

The Czech Republic may now be eliminated from Euro 2020 but nobody will be in a rush to forget the remarkable form Patrik Schick has shown throughout the tournament.
Despite only scoring nine goals for Bayer Leverkusen last season, Schick somehow managed to bag five in four games at Euro 2020 and was more than happy to once again showcase his talent when he got on the end of a cut back in the 49th minute and tucked the ball into the bottom left corner.
The Czech Republic can hold their heads up high after an impressive campaign and no player stole the attention of the tournament quite like Schick.
