About Uganda

The Uganda national football team played their first international match in 1926 when they faced Kenya in Nairobi, drawing 1-1. The nation has never made an appearance at the Fifa World Cup, but have made more of an impact on their own continent of Africa. Their best finish in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament was second in 1978 when they lost in the final 2-0 to Ghana, failing to get on the scoresheet in the final match. However, they are the most successful nation in the history of the CECAFA Cup, the oldest football tournament in Africa, and have won the competition no less than 14 times, whilst also finishing second on four occasions.
