The Austrian's improbable volley was the best of the bunch ahead of Martial and the Ox

3. Anthony Martial (Norwich v Man Utd, Oct 27)

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford's sublime combination play cut through Norwich's defence with incision, with every touch well-timed, perfectly weighted and executed to perfection.

The finest moment is its completion, Rashford waiting until his team-mate is ready to receive before backheeling into his path, and with Tim Krul rushing towards his feet, Martial clips an insouciant lob over his flailing limbs. Brilliant stuff, and United fans will only wish they could see more of this.

2. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Genk v Liverpool, Oct 23)

Any other month a goal of the Ox's quality would be an easy winner but he's just pipped at the post by Sabitzer, though the sheer audacity of this goal should not be overlooked.

In a world where random long-range blasts are revered, the finesse, and plain skill involved in AOC's outside-of-the-boot flick to send the ball flying into the top corner is something to behold. It only loses points because Liverpool were dominant against an inferior team, but it's still a high-class goal.

1. Marcel SABIZTER - (RB Leipzig v Zenit)

It took something special to beat the Ox, and Sabitzer's goal very much represents a work of football artistry. From the chest control the Austrian knows exactly what he is going to do next and he executes it with absolute authority.

He slices his volley from the edge of the box so perfectly, sending it wide of the post and then back in at the perfect moment to leave the diving goalkeeper with no chance of stopping it. If there's a better goal in the Champions League this season, it will be worth waiting for.
