A goalkeeper in lower league football in Germany has been banned from participating in the sport for eight years after attacking a referee during a game.
The player is named Samet, though is full name cannot be revealed due to legal reasons.
During a match between SV Oppum and CSV Marathon II in September, the home side scored with 10 minutes remaining which engaged the opposition, who believed it was offside.
The referee awarded the goal, and in the ensuing melee one of the CSV Marathon II players was sent off. As the game was about to recommence, the banned goalkeeper ran out from his goal and attacked the official from behind.
The game was then immediately stopped, with the player in question subsequently being banned from the training ground.
CSV's general manager Axel Wiebus has condemned the actions of his former player, who he insists will be "expelled" from the club.
"Players like him won't get a second chance at CSV Marathon Krefeld," he told ESPN.
"We can now expel the person from our club. Attacking the referee is a no-no.
"It's honorable work we are doing, and things like that just take away all the fun.
"We'd rather focus on our great work with our partner club SC Hellas. It tarnishes everything."
As well as being banned from football, the keeper will also face criminal charges.
