Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets completes the most passes per game in La Liga in 2020/21.
The Blaugrana are currently embroiled in one of the most tumultuous seasons in their recent history both on and off the pitch, with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu exiled and the team languishing seven points adrift of Atletico Madrid in the title race in third place.
Though his overall contributions have been questioned in this and in recent campaigns, Busquets' passing in the middle of the pitch has remained consistent.
On average, he makes 88.8 passes to team-mates per game, with a completion rate of 91%.
These are not just side-to-side passes, either, as he averages 27.2 passes into the final third per game, which is the sixth-highest tally of anyone in the league and the most of any central midfielder.
Second on the list is Real Madrid's Toni Kroos, who completes 82.9 passes per match.
The current leaderboard, found below, shows players who have featured in at least 500 minutes in the league this season.
If this filter was to be taken away, the player with the most passes completed on average would be Busquets' Barcelona team-mate Miralem Pjanic, who has averaged 108.9 completed passes.
Jordi Alba, Dani Parejo, and Clement Lenglet make up the top five.
La Liga pass masters
Player | Team | Passes P90 | Final Third Passes P90 | Pass Completion |
Sergio Busquets | Barcelona | 88.8 | 27.2 | 91% |
Toni Kroos | Real Madrid | 82.9 | 26.9 | 93% |
Jordi Alba | Barcelona | 81.5 | 33.8 | 87% |
Dani Parejo | Villarreal | 78.5 | 25.0 | 91% |
Clement Lenglet | Barcelona | 76.8 | 11.0 | 92% |
Taking defenders Alba and Lenglet out of the equation and just focusing on midfielders, then Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong and Sevilla's Joan Jordan would enter the top five, completing 76.8 and 70.9 passes per game each respectively.
