So which players stood out?

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Mason Mount: 7.5

A favourite of Frank Lampard, Mount did his chances of regular game time under the new manager no harm at all with a bright performance. He regularly found space between the Tottenham defence and midfield in which to operate, and he was Chelsea's chief creative player for much of the game.

Indeed, he made nearly 50% more passes in the final third than any other player on the field and delivered twice as many crosses.

Was not too far from a second goal for the Blues when he wriggled nicely into the box and had a firm shot well saved by Hugo Lloris.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Carlos Vinicius: 5.6

It was a Premier League debut to forget for the burly forward, whose interest in the match was limited to say the least. He barely touched the ball, although he was certainly hindered by Jose Mourinho's safety-first approach in the opening period, which meant the ball was rarely in his vicinity.

Did excel in the air, winning more headers than any other player on the field, and nearly netted with a late effort.

STAR MAN

Jorginho: 7.8

Was the match winner with his penalty in the first half, which was notable as it lacked his usual 'skip' run up.

It was a complete display from the midfielder, though. He touched the ball more than almost any other player in the field, took part in more duels and ranked highly in recoveries .
