Many young football fans are well aware of names such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mohamed Salah.

However, it is important to remember that these very same personalities are standing upon the shoulders of greats. True veterans of this sport have left an indelible impression, and their flames still burn brightly. Let's look at three immortal legends, as well as what each brought to the game during their heyday.

Bobby Moore

Imagine having the ability to purchase West Ham United tickets and to witness the likes of Bobby Moore gracing the pitch. Many consider Moore to be the best player to ever don the West Ham jersey. Some would even go as far as to say that he is the most adept defender in the history of football itself. While his talents on the pitch cannot be overstated, Moore was also an excellent ambassador. His professional demeanour did wonders for the sport, and while he only won a single World Cup, there is no doubt that his reputation lives on into the present.

Pele

If there is one player who represents the embodiment of football, it has to be Pele. Even those who never follow the sport will immediately connect him to his unrivalled talent on the pitch. Pele enjoyed several milestones throughout his career; perhaps the most important being the fact that he is still the top goal scorer of all time. This record has yet to be broken. He was also named FIFA Player of the Century; an accolade not to be taken lightly. Indeed, Pele was given the honour of one of TIME's 100 Most Important People. When it comes to football, it is simply impossible to detract from his contributions.

Bryan Robson

How amazing would it have been to secure tickets for a Manchester United home game during the early 1980s? Yes, we are referring to the prowess of Bryan Robson. Robson was often known as 'Captain Marvel' for his ability to score goals from the midfield and his leadership, while he was an integral portion of the team throughout what can only be described as a turbulent decade. Although often overshadowed by names such as Wayne Rooney, Denis Law, Eric Cantona and Bobby Charlton, Robson definitely deserves a spot on the podium of all-time greatest players.

Do you agree with this list? What additional personalities would you include?
