Thibaut Courtois has been one of Real Madrid's most reliable performers this season, but it was his huge error that handed Alaves a famous victory in the capital on Saturday.

But how did he perform overall?

After being beaten from the penalty spot early on, some of Courtois' passes out from defence were more than a touch dangerous and it almost led to a clear chance for Lucas Perez.

But Courtois effectively kept his side in the game when Perez ran clear on goal, managing to stay big and get a strong hand to Perez's dinked effort.

But he undid all of that good work in the second half when his stray pass landed at the foot of Joselu, who had the simplest of tasks to roll the ball into the empty net.

Courtois actually made four saves in total, including another good one to deny Perez once more in the closing stages, but the match will be remembered for his mistake.

REGRESSION

Courtois had very little to do in the straightforward win against Inter at San Siro in the Champions League in midweek, earning a 6.5 FC Rating, but he was heavily punished for his big error here, picking up a low 5.6 FC Rating.

Courtois: What Next?

The keeper will need to mentally bounce back from this blow that puts Madrid well off the pace in La Liga, but his shot-stopping abilities remain extremely high and he made saves here which effectively kept Madrid in the game.
