Liverpool's injury crisis continues to worsen and boss Jurgen Klopp could have a real midfield headache ahead of the Champions League clash with Atalanta.

Naby Keita was the latest player to face a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 3-0 defeat of Leicester on Sunday.

Though Jurgen Klopp is hopeful to have at least one of Jordan Henderson or Thiago Alcantara back for the match with the Serie A side. Both men just missed out against Leicester but could be in contention for a return here.

Liverpool's defensive issues are more long-term, with Trent Alexander-Arnold out for a few weeks yet after sustaining a calf injury recently against Manchester City, while Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk may not play again this season.

James Milner will continue to deputise at right-back, while the returning Fabinho and Joel Matip will play in the middle, with Andrew Robertson slotting in on the left.

In attack Xherdan Shaqiri's muscle injury sustained while on international duty with Switzerland is likely to keep him out here, but Mohamed Salah has been back in training following his positive coronavirus test and could feature.

Sadio Mane has been an ever-present of late and Klopp may look to give his wide forward a rest considering Liverpool's already strong position in this Champions League group. Takumi Minamino may get a start instead.
