Following on from Daniel Levy's decision to sack of manager Mauricio Pochettino after they got so close to winning the Champions League, Tottenham have largely been in turmoil.

In the years since November 2019, they have moved through coaches such Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and even former midfielder, Ryan Mason, has had two caretaker spells in charge.

Fortunes did not really turn or improve given the differing styles of play each manager preferred from their players, and there was also a high turnover as each chose different players to carry out their objectives.

Given all the speculation over the summer, there were probably some fans who felt they would understand new no deposit casinos in the UK better than what the transfer plan seemed to be.

Spurs are hoping after that period of uncertainty, their troubles will be now over, although there were certainly some questions being asked when former Australia international boss Ange Postecoglou was appointed from Celtic in June - not least as he walked right into the middle of the ongoing Harry Kane saga.

That was ultimately resolved in August as the England international made an £86 million move to Bayern Munich and, so far at least, Postecoglou at least has not looked back in his opening seven games in charge of the club.

With four wins and three draws in the Premier League, they are sat in joint fourth place with long term rivals Arsenal on 14 points, and are only four points shy of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. The only hiccup here was their end of August defeat to Fulham in the EFL Cup, as they exited the competition on penalties.

Ange is certainly creating media headlines and former Spurs star, and now Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker, recently sat down with him for an in-depth interview.

The 58-year-old admitted that he thought his Premier League chance had passed him by, and he revealed that he felt like he was the 'last man standing' in Tottenham's selection process.

"I never thought I would get here, to be honest, not because of my ability, just because no-one was looking this way. I have ended up really late in my career, managing one of the most famous clubs in the world in Celtic and one of the biggest football clubs in the world in Tottenham. It has come late, it just took someone to look beyond the norm."

The Greece-born manager only ended up in Australia as an immigrant following on from a military coup that left his family without a business.

"We were immigrants. I was five years old when we came, we went by boat, had no certainty about anything. At the time Australia was looking towards immigrants to help with the workforce, my dad was an unskilled labourer, so we took that leap, stayed in a refugee camp for a while then got a house. I had a father who, like every little boy, I just wanted to get close to, but he was working all the time. The only thing he kept inside of him from the old country was his love of football. AEK Athens was his team, I was born a couple of kilometres from the stadium. He loved football and, growing up, that was my connection."

That kickstarted his own love of football and Match of the Day was a regular watch with his father. His own playing career was a mixed bag from his own words, though, a 'battler' and a 'full back who hated defending', but having played for South Melbourne Hellas, he did win four Australian caps, and then he suffered a significant knee injury.

For himself though, he feels everything was a 'precursor to becoming a coach'.

"I was made captain of a club aged 22, so there was obviously a leadership skill there I wasn't really aware of. I always wanted to be a manager. I loved the game. I loved all of it, not just playing. I would get three-month-old Shoot magazines, Roy of the Rovers. I would read everything. I was a massive Liverpool fan, I loved Bill Shankly, I loved the boot room stories. I am comfortable walking into a room and talking to footballers. I am not comfortable going into a social setting and having small talk, but put me in a room with footballers and I am more than comfortable in that space."

As for his own preferred style of play, he had to go back to his dad's love and his playing career. The 70's Liverpool possession, the Holland international side, and even ended up with Ferenc Puskas as a manager at one point.

"In the bizarre world I have grown up in, I ended up with one of the greatest footballers of all time, in Ferenc Puskas, being my manager (South Melbourne). He just didn't like defending at all. His attitude was they score four, we score five. We are talking late 1980s where it was 4-4-2 everywhere. He wanted to play wingers and he didn't ever want our wingers to come past the halfway line. Now, I was a full-back who hated defending. We ended up winning the league. Our strikers got bags of goals, it stirred something inside me and I thought why not? Why not just go for it? Why not play the football everyone wants to play and just score goals, don't worry about conceding."

That theory will not always work in the PL, and he appreciates that, but he is certainly going to enjoy the ride.
