Remarkably, Southampton have made an extremely late push to involve themselves in the automatic promotion race in the Championship.

At the moment, the Saints have two games in hand over Leeds and Ispwich and one over Leicester.

One of those games in hand comes tonight against Preston, and they could move within three points of the top three if they win at St. Mary's.

Southampton Team News

Southampton will be without Ross Stewart and Juan Larios, both of whom have had their season ravaged by injuries.

With multiple games this week, Russell Martin may opt to freshen things up from the weekend, but there won't be a raft of changes as Southampton won 3-2 at home to Watford.

Preston Team News

For Preston, Liam Millar might not play again this campaign after suffering a groin injury, while Ben Whiteman is also injured for this one.

Brad Potts is a doubt.
