Serie A had two outstanding performers this past weekend as both David De Gea and Marcus Thuram earned perfect 10.0 FC Ratings for their respective performances.

De Gea starred as Fiorentina defeated Milan 2-1, while Thuram netted a superb hat-trick as Inter emerged narrow 3-2 winners over Torino.

Indeed, the match between the Nerazzurri and Il Toro was the most exciting of Gameweek Seven as it earned a FootballCritic Match Excitement Rating of 9.1.

Serie A Player of the Week - David De Gea

It seems odd to think that no side were willing to take a chance on De Gea for nearly a year after his Manchester United contract expired as he clearly still has quality, as he showed in the match between Fiorentina and Milan, which the Viola won 2-1.

Saving a penalty in a game will always see a ratings boost for a player, and the Spaniard saved not one, but two from Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham. The two saves were instrumental in Fiorentina claiming the vital victory.

As well as the two spotkick saves, De Gea made another additional five from open play.

Serie A Player of the Week - Marcus Thuram

Before he even scored his first goal, Thuram was heavily involved in the game as it was a shocking challenge on the France international that led to the dismissal of Guillermo Maripan.

Thuram dusted himself off and scored two before the break. He displayed his aerial prowess for both as the first was emphatically headed into the corner while the second was carefully glanced into the bottom right corner.

His hat-trick goal came in slightly easier fashion as he pounced on a loose ball inside the Torino box to bounce an awkward strike over the line.

Who else made the Team of the Week?

Alongside Thuram in our Team of the Week front three is Romelu Lukaku (8.4) and Mateo Retegui (9.7).

Lukaku scored one and set up a further two in Napoli's 3-1 home victory versus Como, while Retegui scored a hat-trick and also registered an assist in Atalanta's 5-1 win over Genoa. The Italy striker missed out on a perfect 10 due to his performance in ground duels as he only won two out of nine, while he also lost possession 12 times.

At the back, the best-performing defender was Alessandro Bastoni (8.9) who won the majority of his duels, aerial duels and tackles and made five ball recoveries. He was also in the top five for passes completed and touches taken.
