The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has announced key dates for the 2024/25 season, marking the beginning of an exciting new cycle for football fans across Scotland.

Key Dates for the 2024/25 Season

The 2024/25 Scottish Premier League season is set to kick off on the weekend of August 3/4, 2024. This start date applies to all divisions within the SPFL, including the Premiership, Championship, League 1, and League 2.

The season promises to be packed with action and excitement, culminating in the Premiership's final round of fixtures on the weekend of May 17/18, 2025.

Premiership Fixtures and Play-offs

Fixture Round 1: Weekend of August 3/4, 2024

Fixture Round 33: Weekend of April 12/13, 2025

Fixture Round 38: Weekend of May 17/18, 2025

Premiership Play-off Final: Thursday, May 22, and Sunday, May 25, 2025

Championship, League 1, and League 2

The Championship will also begin on the weekend of August 2/3, 2024, with the final round of fixtures scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2025.

Similarly, League 1 and League 2 will start on August 3, 2024, concluding their campaigns on Saturday, May 3, 2025, before the playoffs commence.

Viaplay Cup

The group stage of the Viaplay Cup kicks off in mid-July, providing fans with early-season excitement. The schedule for the group stage is as follows:

MD1: Weekend of July 13/14, 2024

MD2: Midweek of July 16/17, 2024

MD3: Weekend of July 20/21, 2024

MD4: Midweek of July 23/24, 2024

MD5: Weekend of July 27/28, 2024

The Viaplay Cup second round is set for the weekend of August 17/18, 2024, with quarter-finals on the weekend of September 21/22, 2024.

The semi-finals will take place on the weekend of November 2/3, 2024, culminating in the final on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Additional Competitions

Dates for the SPFL Trust Trophy will be announced later.

Meanwhile, fixtures for the 2024/25 League season are expected to be published towards the end of June, giving fans ample time to prepare for the new season.

No Scheduled Winter Break

Due to the expanded UEFA club competitions calendar, which now includes 10 league phase matchdays, there will be no scheduled winter break in the 2024/25 Premiership season.

This change reflects the increasing demands on the domestic calendar.
