Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane crowned a superb week with a hugely confident 2-0 victory in the derby against rivals Atletico Madrid, blowing open the title race into the bargain.

Following wins over Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach, Zidane's men made it a perfect seven days - but which players shone?

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Dani Carvajal: 7.9

Carvajal's return from injury has not be coincidental in respect of Real Madrid's change in fortunes. The right-back has been excellent and here he was superb in both halves of the pitch.

From a defensive perspective he won all four of his tackles attempted, while in the attacking third only Toni Kroos made more touches for his team, and his long-range shot which smashed off the post forced Jan Oblak's unfortunate own goal. A superb display

BAD PERFORMANCE

Luis Suarez: 5.6

Despite the expectations and big build-up Atleti were desperately poor in attack in this match and Suarez was perhaps most ineffective.

The striker attempted 17 passes but had just a 59% pass completion rate, while he had just one shot which was off-target while touching the ball once in the Real penalty area. Indeed it was a surprise that Diego Simeone gave him 67 minutes before bringing him off, and Atleti looked better without him.

STAR MAN

Toni Kroos: 8.3

The German midfielder absolutely strolled through the contest at an extremely high level and, particularly in the first half, Atleti simply couldn't get anywhere near him.

86 passes, with 30 into the final third and a 96% completion rate gives an indication of how Kroos completely found his range here and was largely untouchable throughout. His performance was topped off with the assist to Casemiro for the opening goal.
