The Premier League Golden Boot race has been an exciting one over the past few seasons, but this went down to the final day of the season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 22 goals in 2018/19 were enough to land him the coveted accolade, and although he remained in the race until the last fixture of the campaign, the winner this year is Leicester City's Jamie Vardy who earns the award after scoring 23 times to become the oldest recipient of the honour.
Premier League Golden Boot 2019/20
Player | Team | Apps | Goals | Goals P90 |
Jamie Vardy | Leicester | 35 | 23 | 0.69 |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Arsenal | 36 | 22 | 0.64 |
Danny Ings | Southampton | 38 | 22 | 0.69 |
Raheem Sterling | Man City | 33 | 20 | 0.67 |
Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 34 | 19 | 0.59 |
Vardy hasn't scored in the last three games including in the last game of the season against Manchester United, but a flurry of four goals in three before that has ultimately took him over the line.
It was close in the end, however, as Aubameyang scored two goals on the final day against Watford, but his tally took him one adrift of Vardy, as he ended on 22 goals.
Also finishing on 22 goals is Danny Ings, who has enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career in the Premier League.
Making up the top five are Raheem Sterling, who enjoyed a lovely goalscoring run towards the end of the campaign to score 20, while Mohamed Salah is on 19.
