Gerard Pique has volunteered to leave Barcelona should the club opt to bring in fresh faces following their embarrassing 8-2 loss against Bayern in the Champions League.

Although not the worst performer for the Blaugrana on the night, the veteran defender failed to organise a defence alongside Nelson Semedo and Clement Lenglet who were both torn apart by the Bayern forward line.

Pique, too, provided very little resistance to the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller, and it was telling that he was so terrified of the pace of Alphonso Davies that he allowed the flying full-back to comfortably make his way into the box before teeing up Joshua Kimmich for Bayern's fifth.

There has been a call from most involved with Barcelona for a complete restructuring of the club, and Pique thinks no player is safe from the overhaul.

“Shame is the word. You can't play like that, you can't play in Europe like that," the Spaniard told Movistar after the significant loss in Lisbon.

"It is neither the first, nor the second, nor the third time. It's very hard, we all have to reflect.

"The club needs changes and I'm not talking about the coach, about the players. I don't want to point at anyone. Structurally we needs changes of all kinds, because it is neither the first, nor the second nor the third time.

"The first one to volunteer will be me, if new blood has to come in and change this dynamic I will be the first to go, to step aside.

"Now we have hit rock-bottom. I think we all have to look and reflect internally and decide what is best for Barca, which is the most important thing."

The 2019/2020 season represents a fairly disastrous one for Barcelona, as it is the first time in 12 years they have not collected any silverware.
