Neymar screamed in agony after a tackle from Thiago Mendes of Lyon caught him on the ankle in the dying seconds of PSG 1-0 home defeat to OL on Sunday.

The Brazilian's ankle folded underneath himself as Mendes' trailing leg tangled up in Neymar's leg and he instantly let out a scream of pain.

The PSG medical team were quickly on hand to administer treatment but Neymar was still visibly distressed as he was placed onto the stretcher and carried down the tunnel.

The referee then consulted VAR and issued a red card to Mendes for the challenge.

Neymar had been largely frustrated throughout by an excellent defensive performance from Lyon, who robustly kept him out and Kylian Mbappe, who arrived late from the bench.

Further news on Neymar's injury will be made available tomorrow when a full diagnosis can be given, but it's another blow to both the player and the Paris giants.

Neymar's fitness has been patchy at best for the past 18 months and has been unable to put a sustained run of games together.

And as for PSG, this home defeat leaves them off the top of Ligue 1 and after 14 games find themselves in a real title tussle with Lille, Lyon and Marseille.
