Newcastle will look to strengthen their position in the battle for European places when they face Everton on Tuesday.

The Magpies are coming off a morale-boosting comeback win versus West Ham over the weekend, so will fancy their chances against lowly Everton, who have tasted victory on just one occasion in 2024.

Current Form

Newcastle's current form

Prior to the weekend, Newcastle were coming off two straight defeats against Chelsea in the league and Manchester City in the FA Cup, but they showed good spirit to stop the rot with a 4-3 win over West Ham at St. James' Park.

The manner of the win will be a cause for optimism for Eddie Howe, as his players fought back from 3-1 down to win in dramatic fashion on Saturday.

Everton's current form

Everton are on a wretched run of form at the moment and have lost their last three games against West Ham, Manchester United and Bournemouth.

The game against the Cherries, in particular, was a sore one as they lost via a Seamus Coleman own-goal in the 91st minute, having equalised just a couple of minutes previous.

They have won just one game this year and that came in the middle of January against Crystal Palace.

You need to go back to 10th February to find a match where they managed to score more than one goal.

Team News

Anthony Gordon is sure to be a big miss for Newcastle as he is suspended against his former club after receiving two yellow cards in the win versus West Ham.

The Magpies have been ravaged by injuries this season and it has now been confirmed that club captain Jamaal Lascelles will miss up to nine months of action due to a knee injury.

Miguel Almiron, Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier are doubts, but their issues are not believed to be long-term.

For Everton, Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Dobbin won't be involved due to injury, but Vitalii Mykolenko could be passed fit after recovering from illness.

Scoreline Prediction

Newcastle may be missing Anthony Gordon, but Harvey Barnes is likely to come into the starting XI following his match-winning appearance off the bench on Saturday, so there shouldn't be much of a downgrade down that left wing.

Everton will put up a fight, but they don't have enough quality in the final third.

Newcastle 2-0 Everton
