Moussa Diaby: Player Rating and performance as Man Utd target stars versus Koln

Moussa Diaby continued his excellent recent form this midweek as Leverkusen emerged as 4-0 winners away at Koln in the Bundesliga.

Peter Bosz's side were at the top of the table prior to the game and maintained their narrow one-point lead of their nearest challengers, Bayern, who they play this weekend.

It didn't take long for Leverkusen to assert their dominance over proceedings, as they took the lead just eight minutes in through Mitchell Weiser.

⏱️ 10' Two minutes later, Diaby scored one of the best individual goals of the season so far.

After collecting the ball just outside the centre circle inside his own half, the former PSG winger embarked on a lightning-quick dribble forward, leaving numerous players in his wake before curling a beautiful left-footed finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

It was a goal which epitomised Leverkusen's menace on the counter this campaign.

Diaby's threat down the left-hand side really can't be overestimated as he looked capable of pulling off an assist, goal, or meaningful cross nearly every time he ventured into the final third.

A ⏱️ 54' He would turn provider nine minutes after the break, finding Patrick Schik with a lovely ball that was smashed home by the big striker.

Diaby completed six crosses on the night, and misplaced just three passes out of 23.

IMPROVEMENT

Leverkusen impressively defeated Hoffenheim 4-1 at the weekend, but Diaby wasn't involved too much in the goal contributions, recording a 6.2 FC Rating.

His goal, assist, and overall performance versus Koln earned him a boost to a 8.4 FC Rating.

Diaby: What Next?

Diaby has been linked with a move to Man Utd in the past, and if he continues to generate performances like this interest in him will only grow.

However, Leverkusen are keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract to warn off any potential suitors in January of the summer.

On the pitch, he'll need to be in top form as Leverkusen take on champions Bayern this weekend.
