Manchester United are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League thanks to a 1-0 win over Milan at San Siro, which gave them a 2-1 aggregate success.
Paul Pogba was the hero for the Red Devils. After missing the previous 10 games with a thigh injury, he came off the bench at the break and decided the match with a classy finish.
✔️ Paul Pogba: 7.6
Pogba only played the second half of this game, replacing the injured Marcus Rashford at the break, but needed only 45 minutes to transform the flow of the match.
Before he arrived on the field, United were lifeless. Within four minutes of Pogba coming on, they were a goal to the good. Having found space in the box following a scramble, he kept his head to lift his finish into the goal. This was the type of clear thinking and execution they had previously missed.
Having set the tone, Pogba gave a powerful performance in the midfield, often gathering possession and driving at the Milan defence. With three minutes left, his aggressive header narrowly went over.
He caused mayhem.
❌ MARCUS RASHFORD: 5.7
Deployed on the left of the attack, Rashford’s difficult period continues for Manchester United. He has now played six games without scoring a goal.
Admittedly, he appeared to be hindered by an ankle complaint late in the first half, but he failed to offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side much during his time on the field. Indeed, he touched the ball only 16 times.
⭐ HARRY MAGUIRE: 7.7
The world’s most expensive defender proved his worth on this occasion as he was a rock at the heart of the Man Utd defence.
Won the majority of his duels both on the ground and in the air, while he read the game impressively, completing five interceptions to ease the pressure on his colleagues.
Made 91% of his passes and gave the ball away only six times – extremely valuable as United took the sting out of the match.
