Arsenal hold what looks like a decisive 3-1 led over Olympiacos in the Europa League after the first leg largely because of the contribution of Martin Odegaard.

The on-loan Real Madrid ace opened the scoring with a fierce first-half shot then played his part in winning the corner from which Gabriel headed the winner.

Although Arsenal enjoyed a good deal of pressure in the first half, their play was often in front of the Olympiacos defence.

⚽ ⏱️ 34’ Odegaard gathers possession around 30 yards from goal, advances with a couple of touches before sending a thunderbolt of a shot goalwards. The ball swerves in the air, deceiving goalkeeper Jose Sa, whose flailing arm was insufficient to keep it out.

Before being replaced with eight minutes left, Odegaard helped to construct the move down the right which won the corner that Gabriel headed home. This goal was the catalyst of the Gunners’ success and should mean they have an easy time at the Emirates next week.
