Ipswich have an extremely difficult opening few fixtures of the Premier League campaign as they now face champions Manchester City, having played the opening game versus Liverpool.

Man City continued their championship-winning form into the new campaign with a comfortable 2-0 away win against Chelsea.

Match Preview

Man City recent form

The season has barely started and Man City have already claimed silverware as they defeated Man Utd on penalties in the Community Shield following a 0-0 draw.

In pre-season, Man City defeated Chelsea 4-2 in the United States. They also lost against Celtic and Milan and drew versus Barcelona.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic gave them an opening day victory against Chelsea last Sunday.

Man City injury news

Oscar Bobb is definitely out for City, while there are concerns over Rodri and Savio.

Rodri missed the Chelsea win, while Savio collected a knee issue versus the Blues, but both could make this game if they prove themselves fit.

Ipswich recent form

Ipswich played three pre-season friendlies, defeating Hoffenheim and Nice but losing to Dusseldorf.

They had a tough assignment in their first game after being promoted as they faced Liverpool. The Reds may have won 2-0, but Ipswich acquitted themselves well, particuarly with their relentless pressing.

Ipswich injury news

Ipswich have a number of injury concerns as Wesley Burns, Arijanet Muric, Janoi Donacien, Cameron Humphreys, Nathan Broadhead, George Hirst and Harry Clarke are all either out or a doubt.

Humphreys has the best chance of being involved against City.

Man City - Player to Watch?

It was no surprise to see Erling Haaland open Man City's goalscoring account for the season last week and he remains the best bet to open the scoring here.

Ipswich - Player to Watch?

Omari Hutchinson is Ipswich's big-money attacking signing of the summer and the club will hope he starts recording goals or assists as soon as possible.

Man City vs Ipswich - Prediction

Ipswich will bravely go ahead with their pressing game, but City are experts at playing through such a system, and if they break forward there will be acres of space to exploit.

Man City 3-0 Ipswich

Haaland, as you would imagine, is odds-on favourite to open the scoring.
