Manchester United are leading the race to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Olise has been one of the most impressive wingers in the Premier League this campaign, with 10 goals and six assists in just 19 starts in 2023/24.

In all competitions, he has recorded 29 goal contributions.

He is wanted by a number of big clubs in the English top flight including United, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool.

However, FootballTransfers reports that the Red Devils are in pole position to secure his signature.

Olise has a reported release clause of €70 million which could represent a bargain in this age of inflated transfer fees.

Following the extremely poor performances from big-money signing Antony, United are looking for an upgrade on the right-hand side of their attack.

Furthermore, the Brazilian is one of a number of players at Old Trafford who have been put up for sale as the club attempts to raise funds for a squad revamp.

Olise represents an ideal signing for the new Man Utd hierarchy, who are targeting young, effervescent players who can make a quick impact but while also retaining a potential sell-on value.

United are in a position to spend heavily on transfers this summer.

Over the last few seasons, United have been shackled by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules which only allow clubs to lose £105 million over three years.

United lost £115m, but these calculations won't be included in 2024/25 which means big investment is coming in the playing squad, according to finance expert Kieran Maguire.

“The 2024/25 could be a bit of a reset for Manchester United,” Maguire told Football Insider

“The reason why the club has been so cautious in recent transfer windows, especially in the January window, is a lot to do with the large losses that the club racked up in 2021/22. However, such losses drop out of the three-year PSR equation this summer.

“This should give Manchester United much more wiggle room and a bigger budget to play with. This is combined with a new philosophy of shifting older and higher-earning players off the wage bill.“
