Liverpool and Manchester United played out a forgettable goalless draw at Anfield in a drab game with few chances.

Bruno Fernandes missed the best opportunity in the second half as Man Utd retained their spot at the top of the Premier League table. Liverpool, meanwhile, have now gone four matches in the league without a win.

So who were the best and worst players on the pitch?

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Fabinho: 7.5

The Brazilian put in yet another faultless performance in his unnatural role at centre back as Liverpool once again did not miss the injured Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Liverpool have now only conceded five goals in their last 10 Premier League matches, with Fabinho a contender for their best player so far this season.

Against Man Utd, he comfortably dealt with the challenge of Anthony Martial and had a 93% pass success rate. He also made one superb late challenge on Rashford to ensure another clearn sheet.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Marcus Rashford: 5.7

Rashford has a fine record against Liverpool but was forced into a more sacrificial role on Sunday, playing from the left-hand side.

He did not manage his first attempt until midway through the second half, with a long-range free kick that went straight into the wall.

Alhough he worked hard for the team, he made little impact offensively with no dribbles, no chances created and only a 57 per cent pass success rate. His one bright moment was slipping in Luke Shaw down the left, with the full-back cutting back to Bruno Fernandes - only for the Portuguese star to be denied by Alisson.

STAR MAN

Thiago Alcantara: 9.2

The former Bayern Munich midfielder oozed class with every touch of the ball as he dictated the play in the centre of the park.

He had comfortably the most touches of the ball from both teams, with an impressive 30 of his 94 passes going into the final third.

Thiago also completed five dribbles and forced David de Gea into a fine save. Defensively he was also fantastic, with a game-high seven interceptions as he demonstrated why he is considered one of the best midfielders in the world.
