Perfect 10 for Lionel Messi to make La Liga team of the week

The Barcelona forward put on a stellar performance to pick up a goal and all three points for his side against Levante

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi was once again the top performer in round 13 of the Primera Division.

Although the Argentine’s side only managed to beat Levante by a solitary goal, Messi was unquestionably the focal point of Barcelona’s attack with 12 shots throughout the match and scorer of the only goal in the game. That earned him a remarkable rating of 10 on the day.

Alongside the Barcelona star in attack is Celta forward Iago Aspas (9.0), who has now made it in the league’s team of the week for four, straight weeks in a row. This time around the forward did so with a goal and two assists against Cadiz.

Joining Messi and Aspas up front is Valladoid forward Shon Weissman (8.1), after scoring two goals in his side’s hard-fought 3-2 victory over Osasuna at the weekend.

In midfield, Real Madrid star Toni Kroos (8.2) stole the headlines with a man of the match performance against Atletico Madrid and an assist for Casemiro's opening goal on the night.

He’s joined by Valencia’s Carlos Soler (8.4) following his goal and assist in Valencia’s 2-2 draw with Athletic, as well as Fran Beltran (7.8) of Celta for his own goal, despite only coming on midway through the first half.

The back line for the team of the week includes Real Madrid duo Sergio Ramos (8.1) and Dani Carvajal (7.9) for their impressive defensive performance against Athletico and the latter’s remarkable shot to force goalkeeper Jan Oblak into an own goal.

They’re joined by Javier Galan (8.1) of Huesca after he scored the only goal in his team’s 1-0 victory over Alaves, and Villarreal’s Pau Torres (7.7) after his opening goal against Real Betis ultimately ended up earning his side a point.

Between the posts is Levante's Aitor Fernandez (9.6) after his heroics against Barcelona kept the score to just a single goal defeat.
