At different points of the Championship season, both Leeds and Southampton would have had aspirations of winning the competition.

But, drops in form towards the end of the campaign will see both sides likely have to settle for a playoff spot.

Leeds could still potentially earn automatic promotion, but they need to beat Southampton and hope Ipswich lose against already-relegated Huddersfield.

Current Form

Leeds current form

Leeds have emerged victorious in just one of their last five games and it is that kind of form that saw them surrender the league to eventual champions Leicester.

In that run, they have lost against Coventry, Blackburn and QPR.

Last time out, they were torn apart in a 4-0 loss versus QPR at Loftus Road.

Southampton current form

Southampton's form is similarly poor as they have lost three games in a row against Cardiff, Leicester and Stoke.

The 5-0 loss against champions Leicester was particularly humbling for Russell Martin's side.

Leeds vs Southampton Team News

Pascal Struijk and Daniel James are the only definite absentees for Leeds, though Glen Kamara is available again for Daniel Farke.

Gavin Bazunu and Stuart Armstrong are out for Southampton, but Martin may opt to ring the changes as the team has playoff games to prepare for.

Scoreline Prediction

Leeds still have an outside chance of promotion, while Southampton have nothing to play for, so expect the hosts to win.
