Champions League holders Bayern Munich sent out a message to the rest of Europe that they are the team to beat again this season with a thumping 4-1 win over Lazio in Rome.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, 17-year-old Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and a Francesco Acerbi own goal blew Lazio away in this Champions League last-16 first-leg tie. Joaquin Correa hit a consolation for an error-strewn Lazio side.

The two teams will play the return leg in Munich in March.

So which players stood out most on the night?

✔️ Leroy Sane: 7.6

Big things were expected of Sane when he made his €60 million move to Bayern from Manchester City last summer.

The winger has yet to live up to the expectations so far but he showed on Tuesday just what an electric talent he is.

Lazio's backline simply couldn't cope with the former Schalke star. He scored Bayern's third goal and embarked on numerous dribbles throughout the game.

❌ Mateo Musacchio: 5.0

All three of Lazio's starting centre-backs had horror nights. Patric gifted Bayern the third goal, Francesco Acerbi scored an own goal for the fourth, but Musacchio was the worst of the lot.

His dreadfully under-hit backpass gave Robert Lewandowski the easy task of rounding Pepe Reina to break the deadlock.

This opened the floodgates and Musacchio proceeded to make error after error until he was hauled off with only 31 minutes on the clock.

Robert Lewandowski: 7.9

Another game, another Lewandowski goal.

The Polish superstar now has an incredible 32 goals in 31 games this season after once again finding the net against Lazio.

He capitalised on a dreadful backpass by Musacchio to open the scoring, taking the ball around Reina and finishing with ease.

Having struggled against him for Poland versus Italy earlier in the season, Lewandowski comfortably won his personal battle against Acerbi this evening.
