Kylian Mbappe was once again at the heart of another impressive Paris Saint-Germain performance on Saturday as his side claimed a comfortable 4-1 win away to Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

The France international could have been rested ahead of PSG’s second leg against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week, but Mauricio Pochettino decided to keep his star striker in the starting XI and was rewarded with a goal and an assist from the star.

While some players may have taken their foot off the gas after such a dominating performance in Munich, Mbappe instead took Saturday’s match in his stride and pestered the opposition defence from the first whistle until the 88th minute.

Mbappe gathers the ball on the left of the box and makes a dash past his marker. Around a yard from the end line, he drills an improbable shot through the legs of Matz Sels and into the net.

Mbappe is given space in the centre of the pitch in which to gallop. He charges forward 20 yards before releasing Kean with a flicked right-footed pass. The on-loan Everton man finishes emphatically

IMPROVEMENT

As hard as it may seem to believe, Mbappe actually improved on his performance against Bayen with an 8.2 FC Rating on Saturday.

Not only was that impressive in its own right, but it was also slightly better than the 8.1 FC Rating Mbappe picked up in the Champions League.

Mbappe: What Next?

Some PSG fans may have been sweating over Mbappe playing almost a full 90 minutes in between both Champions League quarter-final legs but the striker seemed to get through the game without any major issues.

The French striker will now be tasked with continuing his impressive run of form against Bayern in the second leg and ensuring that his side finish the job to reach the semi-finals.
