Bayern started their Champions League title defence in emphatic fashion by defeating Atletico Madrid 4-0 in Munich, with Kingsley Coman emerging as the man of the match.

How did Coman play overall?

In the continued absence of new signing Leroy Sane, Coman has been given more game time recently than he perhaps would have had if the German was fit.

And boy, is he making the most of it.

Against Atletico, he had a hand in three out of the four goals, scoring two himself and setting up another.

⏱️ 28' The opening goal came 28 minutes in. After an Atletico clearance out of the box possession drops to Joshua Kimmich in the middle of the half, who picks out a gorgeous pass over the top of the opposition defence for Coman, who pulls the ball out of the air with one touch before guiding a finish into the bottom corner.

It was Thomas Muller who was selected to play on the right, not Serge Gnabry, which put more impetus on Coman to provide width on both sides of the pitch whenever he switched positions.

A ⏱️ 41' From the left-hand side of the pitch he would record an assist. After dazzling Kieran Trippier with a few twists and turns just inside the box, he would eventually slide to Leon Goretzka to finish with a deflected strike into the left corner.

Atletico simply couldn't handle Coman's pace, and it was via a blisteringly-quick run in behind that he scored his second.

⏱️ 72' With Bayern now 3-0 the game became more stretched, which allowed Coman to gallop in behind down the right wing before cutting inside, then cutting outside again, bamboozling the defender before calmly finishing to make it 4-0.

Coman: What Next?

Bayern spent big money on Sane, but with Coman playing like this could the former Man City winger be kept out the team when he returns from injury?
