Scotland defender Kieran Tierney put in one of the best performances of the week in World Cup Qualifying as the Scots defeated the Faroe Islands 4-0 at Hampden.

Steve Clarke's side opening their campaign over the past 10 days or so with a couple of draws - a decent one versus Austria but then a disappointing one against Israel.

Matches against the Faroe Islands in the group represent must-win scenarios for Scotland as it is vital they collect as much points as possible against the minnow nation, and although they huffed and puffed in the first half, the victory was eventually emphatic.

Key to the win was the performance of Tierney, who seems to be flourishing in his role as a left-sided centre-back.

So, how did he perform overall?

Right from the get-go Tierney looked up for this one as he got involved in a scuffle down the left wing, subsequently giving the linesman a piece of his mind for not awarding Scotland a free-kick.

He may have been deployed as a centre-back, but he basically played as a flying left-winger as he could regularly be found as one of Scotland's most advanced players.

On the night, he would earn a hat-trick of assists with the first coming early on.

A ⏱️ 7' Just seven minutes in, he received a pass in behind from Callum McGregor after an overlapping run round the defender, allowing him to perfectly set-up John McGinn for a neat finish into the bottom right corner.

A ⏱️ 53' Tierney's second assist came shortly after the break, when he curled a teasing cross into the box from deep down the flank, again for McGinn to head home on this occasion.

A ⏱️ 60' The Arsenal full-back completed his hat-trick of assists on the hour mark as he fired a pass into the feet of Che Adams, who would then turn and fire a lovely strike into the bottom left corner.

Defensively he was magnificent, too, as he won 100% of his duels (5/5) and made 10 ball recoveries.

He completed four crosses, three dribbles, and had 115 touches of the ball during his time on the pitch.

Tierney: What Next?

It is back to club duties for Tierney after the international break, and the big games keep on coming for him as this weekend Arsenal take on Liverpool in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's side will certainly need to be wary of the former Celtic man in this kind of form.
