Joao Felix made a slow start to life with Atletico Madrid and struggled at times last season, but his immense talent is now bearing fruit as Atleti battered Cadiz 4-0 on Saturday evening.

Cadiz actually came into the match with a more than decent away record and had won at Real Madrid just a few weeks ago, but here they were just unable to stop the 20-year-old, who was the dominant performer on the field.

⏱️ 8' Visiting goalkeeper Ledesma came out to collect a deep cross but dropped it at the feet of Marcos Llorente, who lobbed across to allow Felix to nod in past the defender on the line.

A ⏱️ 51' On 51 minutes Felix raced towards the Cadiz defence, having them facing in the opposite direction before feeding Luis Suarez to steady himself and slot into the corner for 3-0.

⏱️ 90' And Felix himself rounded off the win in style, controlling a knockdown from Angel Correa on his chest before slotting into the net in style.

There was so much to like about this performance from Felix. As well as his direct goal contributions, he also completed three dribbles and created two Big Chances. With 71 touches he was the most actively involved attacking player and despite his slight frame was still able to win six of his eight duels.

Joao Felix: What Next?

Felix, Luis Suarez and Marcos Llorente are shaping up to be a particularly deadly front three and they are setting the pace this season as both Barcelona and Real Madrid show weakness.

If Felix can continue this form, there can be no doubt that Atletico are genuine title contenders.
